Food Tip Leftovers should never be at room temperature for more than 2 hours. They should be refrigerated quickly. Refrigerators are designed to accommodate changes in temperatures. Alhough plastic wrap may prevent contact with other food and bacteria, it will not prevent growth of bacteria already in or on the food if left out at room temperature. |

“Cooking is at once one of the simplest and most gratifying of the arts, but to cook well one must love and respect food.” |

"Americans, more than any other culture on earth, are cookbook cooks; we learn to make our meals not from any oral tradition, but from a text. The just-wed cook brings to the new household no carefully copied collection of the family's cherished recipes, but a spanking new edition of ‘Fannie Farmer’ or ‘The Joy of Cooking’." |
| John Thorne, American food writer |
These Asian Recipes are just a few out of thousands in our on-line Cookbook.
Herb Tip Using Thyme: Both the leaves and flowers of the thyme plant are used and are available either fresh or dried. Thyme adds a flavor that’s a little bit minty and a little bit lemony. Uses of thyme include beef, fish, chowders, vegetables and tomato sauces |

Food Tip Although conventinal advice has been to use plastic cutting boards instead of wooden ones, there is an opinion that wooden surfaces may actually be better at preventing bacterial growth than plastic surfaces, which seem to harbor them. Whether you choose wood or plastic, use separate boards for raw and cooked foods, and make sure to clean and sterilize after each use. To sanitize cutting boards, wash with warm, soapy water, and then wash again with a solution of 2 to 3 teaspoons of household bleach in one quart of warm water. Rinse with plain hot water |
