Herb Tip
Using Thyme:
Both the leaves and flowers of the thyme plant are used and are available either fresh or dried. Thyme adds a flavor that’s a little bit minty and a little bit lemony. Uses of thyme include beef, fish, chowders, vegetables and tomato sauces

Food Tip
Most food borne pathogens thrive at room temperature or in warm water. Use your refrigerator to thaw foods by moving them from the freezer to the refrigerator one or two days before you plan to cook them. An alternative method for thawing is the microwave oven. However, if thawing is done in the microwave oven, the thawed food must be cooked immediately afterward.

Herb Tip
Using Sage:
Both the leaves and flowers of the sage plant are used in cooking in both fresh and dried varieties. A must in most homes at Thanksgiving for the holiday stuffing served, you can also add sage to eggs, poultry, pork, beef, lamb or pasta.

Barbecued Beans Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Drain beans, place in an ungreased 3
quart bean pot or casserole, and mix in all remaining ingredients.
Cover tightly (use a double thickness of foil if casserole has no
lid) and bake 5 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally, until beans are
tender and sauce thick. If mixture gets too dry before beans are
done, stir in a little warm water.

Serves: 6
