“Food without wine is a corpse; wine without food is a ghost; united and well matched they are as body and soul, living partners.” |

There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection IS the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted. |

* Hamburger buns should be split and toasted. Cook and stir the
meat, onion and celery in a large skillet until the meat is brown.
Drain off the excess fat. Stir in the cabbage, green pepper, catsup,
water, salt, and mustard and heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
Reduce the heat and cover. Simmer until the vegetables are tender,
about 25 minutes. Spoon the mixture onto the bottom halves of the
buns and top with the remaining halves.
NOTE:
For Sloppy Joes, omit the cabbage and salt.
