The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not. |
| Mark Twain |
"Cuisine is both an art and a science: it is an art when it strives to bring about the realization of the true and the beautiful, called le bon (the good) in the order of culinary ideas. As a science, it respects chemistry, physics and natural history. Its axioms are called aphorisms, its theorems recipes, and its philosophy gastronomy." |

Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an
electric mixer. Add vanilla, mixing well.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture
alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix
well after each addition.
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form; fold
whites into batter.
Grease three 9-inch round cake pans, and line with wax paper; grease
wax paper. Pour batter into prepared pans; bake at 350 for 18 to 20
minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove from pans, and let cool completely on
wire racks. Spread Carolina Dream Frosting between layers and on top
and sides of cake. Yield: one 3-layer cake.

used at a dinner party for 12.
