Preheat oven to 400 deg f. In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar.
Beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. With wooden
spoon, mix in flour until blended. Divide dough into 3 parts. Place
one part in a bowl with red coloring. Repeat with another third. Keep
one third uncolored. On a floured surface roll each piece of dough
into a rope. Place rope into a cookie press with your favorite disk.
Press cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 deg f for
about 7 minutes or until set. Cool on racks. Makes about 6 dozen
cookies.
