"Americans, more than any other culture on earth, are cookbook cooks; we learn to make our meals not from any oral tradition, but from a text. The just-wed cook brings to the new household no carefully copied collection of the family's cherished recipes, but a spanking new edition of ‘Fannie Farmer’ or ‘The Joy of Cooking’." |

Herb Tip |
Mix to-gether sugar, cocoa and egg. Melt the 1/2 cup butter and add
the sugar mixture, cook for 1 minute until well blended. Break up 1/2
pkg of graham wafers in bowl, pour above mixture over wafers and mix
well. Pack in greased 8x8 pan pushing down well with back of spoon.
Chill. Make icing with 1 1/2 cups of icing sugar, 1 tblsp butter, 2
tblsp cocoa and enough hot water to spread. Put icing on squares and
enjoy. ( Break up wafers before you prepare main mixture)
