1. Combine wine, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves and lemon zest in a
saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer 5 minutes. 2.
Prepare the cherries and place in a shallow baking dish. Pour the
syrup over the cherries and bake in a preheated 350-degree oven 30
minutes. 3. Let the cherries cool a bit in the syrup. Serve warm,
room temperature or chilled with ice cream or sweetened creme fraiche.
